Service Description
Trauma Focused CBT (TF-CBT) is an evidence based therapy designed to help you find relief from traumatic events and reclaim your life. We start with your day-to-day life and the things you want to feel more comfortable and confident doing, instead of feeling uneasy or on edge about. We then look at three things: 1. What are the beliefs we hold about these situations (eg, I'm not safe, this will go badly)? 2. Where and when did we start to feel that way? 3. What strategies might we be using to feel at ease which may be counter-productive? Work then focuses on: 1. Updating these beliefs into more fair and balanced ones. 2. Preventing flashbacks or reminders of these events. 3. Dropping the coping strategies and seeing what we discover. The whole therapy is done at a pace which suits you, with you in control every step of the way.
